Ascot Road Community Free School
...for a better future
This week Year 2 went on a fantastic trip to Bhaktivedanta Manor, home of the Hare Krishna movement. We took a tour of the grounds where we explored the George Harrison garden and took a bumpy ride on a bull cart! Later on we dressed up in saris, turbans and bindis and had our faces painted with bright colours. We observed worship in their shrine room and watched a performance of a traditional Odissi dance.
This week in Reception we are learning about number bonds to 5, 6, 7 and 8.
We used objects, numicon and number sentences!
In Reception we follow Read Write Inc for our Phonics!
The children write about the topic of the week!
They write Independently and they are able to read what they have written!
Reception had an amazing time at Ashridge Forest!
We went on a mini beast hunt in the woods and we also went pond dipping!
We found the most interesting creepy crawlies and we classify them by colour.
Thank you to all the parent volunteers that came to help us!!
In Reception we are learning about minibeasts!
We went to the outside area and look for minibeasts, we use our magnified glasses and ipads to take pictures of them.
Did you know that some minibeasts have 6 legs and some 8?
Do you know the name of these minibeasts?
